The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Hints
Pool of Dementia
1 of 10: Follow the narrow, short path along until you reach a gnarl chrysalis.
2 of 10: Cross the root bridge near the chrysalis and then head north.
3 of 10: You'll eventually come to a path split in which it doesn't matter which way you go, since both routes lead quickly to the same northern passage. (Check both routes if you want to loot both hollowed stumps.)
4 of 10: At the next path split, go north for a gnarl chrysalis, then return to the split and go west.
5 of 10: At the next split, check both the north and south passages to see if either one leads to an openable root door. If not, you'll have to use a Shard of Order or wait for a gnarl to unlock one.
6 of 10: In the large cave beyond is the pool that you're trying to cleanse.
7 of 10: You do that by killing off all three of the Priests of Order who are down in the pool, using a large crystal formation to poison it.
8 of 10: NOTE: If you've already cleansed the Pool of Mania, the traitor Syl or Thadon (whoever you didn't replace earlier) will be here, too. Be sure to get his/her valuable magic gear after he/she dies.
9 of 10: Try to sneak up on some of them so you can get in good sneak-attack blows, then summon a creature and finish the rest off.
10 of 10: After you loot them, go up the root ramp in the SW corner to find a shortcut door that leads back to the Fountainhead.
