The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Hints
How can I load the Shivering Isles module in the Construction Set program?
of 12: See the general tips in the main Oblivion UHS hint file for info on where you can download the Construction Set program and how to use it to do a few simple things.
of 12: The DLCShiveringIsles.esp file won't load into version 1.0.303 of the Construction Set program, but you can now download a patch that'll update the Construction Set to version 1.2.404.
of 12: Read on if you need or want to use the original, unpatched program for some reason.
of 12: It appears that all the data for Shivering Isles got added in to the main Oblivion.esm file, and now *that* file requires a higher editor version.
of 12: There is a way to make it work with the v1.0.303 Construction Set -- at least part of the way. (You may want to read on to the end of these hints for more details on what will and won't work, before you start editing files.)
of 12: To do that, you'll need a program that can hex-edit files. Text editors such as Microsoft Notepad and Wordpad won't work for this.
of 12: Make a copy of Oblivion.esm, naming it anything you want to, and then load that copy up in your file editor.
of 12: Look at the very top of the file to find the letters HEDR.
of 12: The six bytes following the R in HEDR will be 12, 0, 0, 0, 128, and 63 (or 0C 00 00 00 80 3F in hex). That's what's messing you up. Change those values to be 12, 0, 205, 204, 76, and 63 (0C 00 CD CC 4C 3F in hex).
of 12: Save your changes, then run the Construction Set and load up your altered file.
of 12: When you start getting error messages, click on "Yes to All" to skip by them.
of 12: After that, you can view some things like item data, but other things won't work. For instance, the program will always crash when you try to view quests.
