How do I get past the man-eating plant?

  • 1 of 9: You'll need to distract the plant.  (Save your game before trying to get past this plant.)
  • 2 of 9: Have you looked it up in the plant book, yet?
  • 3 of 9: The man-eating plant likes to eat birds.
  • 4 of 9: If you were to feed the plant a bird, it may be distracted long enough to get past.
  • 5 of 9: Important -- save your game here!  Do not rely on the life-pads, for once you release the bird, you won't get it back if you die.
  • 6 of 9: Move Simon a few steps closer to the man-eating plant.  You should see the plant in one of the boxes at the top right of the screen. 
  • 7 of 9: Release the bird.  The plant will immediately catch it and eat it.
  • 8 of 9: As quickly as possible, move forward (and to the right of the plant). 
  • 9 of 9: Your goal is the small shoreline to the back right of the area.  Don't waste any steps -- go as straight as possible to the shoreline.  If you don't quite make it, you may need to load the game, carefully step forward a step or two, release the bird, and try again.
