How do I catch a gnome?

  • 1 of 22: Gnomes can be found in the gnome village.
  • 2 of 22: Use the phone booth to go to the Dungnomin' Tree.
  • 3 of 22: There is a large tree here with a door in it.
  • 4 of 22: It's a small door -- much smaller than Simon.
  • 5 of 22: Simon will have to crouch (press Z) to fit through the door.
  • 6 of 22: On the other side of the door is a small gnome village.
  • 7 of 22: Focus your attention on the mushroom house to the right.
  • 8 of 22: Talking to the gnome won't help, nor will trying to directly interact with the mushroom house.
  • 9 of 22: You'll have to try to entice a gnome to leave the house.
  • 10 of 22: Gnomes like shiny objects.
  • 11 of 22: If you spread the washers around the mushroom house, the gnome will show up to collect them.  If you're quick, you can catch him.
  • 12 of 22: However, you won't be able to hold onto him -- he'll run away, as long as he's able to.
  • 13 of 22: You'll have to find a way to prevent him from being able to bite you.
  • 14 of 22: Think of something large enough to place over the gnome.
  • 15 of 22: You'll need the bell.
  • 16 of 22: Instead of catching the gnome, place the bell over him.
  • 17 of 22: If you lift the bell after catching the gnome, he will still bite you and run away.
  • 18 of 22: You'll need to find a way to make the gnome incapable of running.
  • 19 of 22: A big bell like that would probably be pretty loud up close.
  • 20 of 22: You'll need to think of a way to ring the bell.
  • 21 of 22: Use the hammer on the bell.
  • 22 of 22: It is now possible to pick up the vibrating gnome.
