Stonekeep Hints
Shields
I have found all shields work just as well as one type of monster as the other, except with harder monsters (e.g. skeletons), they can't sustain as much damage as they can with easy monsters (e.g. ants).
Small Wooden Shield: Not the best in the world, but it is worth waiting for (you don't discover one until the second or third level of the game) because the leather shield isn't that much better.
Leather Shield: This isn't much better than the small wooden shield, but you don't receive the magickal shield until much later in the game, so don't complain. Live with this bad thing. It may sometimes even save you some health points here and there.
Magickal Shield: This shield is definitely worth waiting for! I think its actually the last one in the game you can get, which means its the best, and it towers over the awful small wooden shield and slightly better leather shield. This thing is almost as good as the ancient armor. They go together nicely when fighting monsters like skeletons.
