The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

End the threat to Councilor Morvayn.

  • 1 of 12: Enter the citadel, then turn right and sneak down the steps so you can get the drop on the Morag Tong assassin that's in the room just past them.
  • 2 of 12: Go down a short cave tunnel to enter a long corridor that's guarded by several assassins and closed barriers.
  • 3 of 12: The first barrier's area has two side rooms, each with one assassin in it. Kill both of them, then jump around near the barrier to get the attention of the three assassins in the next area.
  • 4 of 12: They can't get through the barrier, so use arrows, the Flames spell, or whatever to kill the two melee assassins while dodging the arrows of the assassin archer.
  • 5 of 12: When you're ready to open the barrier, use the pull chain that's in the east side room, to the left of its doorway.
  • 6 of 12: Kill any remaining assassins in the next barrier's area, then look to the left of the barrier for a pull chain that removes part of it.
  • 7 of 12: The other pull chain that you need to use is in the narrow west side room with all the bear traps in it. Carefully crouch-walk through the room, activating bear traps before you step on them, until you can reach the chain.
  • 8 of 12: There are no assassins in the third and final barrier's area, but there are a whole lot of pressure plates that activate swinging gate traps.
  • 9 of 12: Carefully navigate your way up to the barrier, then jump up and down to get the attention of Vendil Severin and his two assassin bodyguards. The bodyguards will use bows, so dodge their fire while attacking Severin safely through the barrier.
  • 10 of 12: As an alternative, you might want to open the barrier and then lure Vendil and friends through all the swinging gate traps. That's a bit more dangerous, especially if you want to keep luring them back and forth through the traps until they're dead.
  • 11 of 12: In any case, the two pull chains for opening the barrier are on the backs of the two pillars in the west side room. (Watch out for the pressure plates that activate spear traps as you navigate that room.)
  • 12 of 12: Once Vendil is dead, you'll get the next objective.
