How can I open that gate?
1 of 3: The same way you extended those stone stairs -- by finding and taking a special book.
2 of 3: Move on down the corridor, killing seekers as you come to them, until you find a pedestal with the "Delving Pincers" book on it.
3 of 3: That's the one you need to take, so do that and then return to the gate to find that it's now open.
