The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

Defeat Miraak.

  • 1 of 11: Wait if necessary for Sahrotaar to land, then make a regular save before going up to him and mounting him. The upcoming battle with Miraak is chock full of fatal glitch possibilities.
  • 2 of 11: As you fly around on him, you can have fun locking onto seekers and lurkers and ordering him to attack them, or you can just wait until he lands on the ledge where Miraak is waiting. (Note that you can order him to land soon after he takes off in order to greatly shorten the trip to Miraak's ledge.)
  • 3 of 11: After he lands, dismount him, then wait for Miraak to stop talking and start fighting. Or crouch down behind him and hit him with a sneak attack to start things early. (Note that if you're capable of super-powerful sneak attacks, using them may glitch Miraak and make him permanently unkillable.)
  • 4 of 11: Miraak will be fighting alone, but he's a very powerful opponent, and knows several shouts in addition to various magic spells. Also, you're stuck in a fairly small combat arena with very little cover.
  • 5 of 11: Use all of your best shouts, spells, armor, and weapons to keep yourself alive while you knock Miraak's health down. He can heal himself, and he'll often use the Become Ethereal and Whirlwind Sprint shouts to gain some distance if you're trying to engage him in melee combat.
  • 6 of 11: Note that Sahrotaar will also be attacking Miraak, and he may get distracted by that if you're not very close to him. You could use that to your advantage if you don't want to confront him directly.
  • 7 of 11: The first three times Miraak's health gets low, he'll become briefly invincible, and will fully restore his health by draining the soul from one of the three nearby dragons. You'll then have to start over and knock his health down again.
  • 8 of 11: Once you finally knock away all of his health, stand and watch as Hermaeus Mora intervenes and finishes him off. After a small structure rises from the pool in the center of the ledge, you can loot Miraak's skeleton to get all of his cool unique artifacts (provided it hasn't glitched into the floor). Also note that you absorbed 10 dragon souls from him.
  • 9 of 11: Read the book in the central structure to create a portal back to Solstheim, plus a large circle of green glowing runes that you can use to de-allocate all of a certain skill's perk points. This allows you to reuse those points however you want to.
  • 10 of 11: If you have enough dragon souls (each de-allocation costs one soul), you can totally redistribute all of your character's perk points, thereby effectively turning him into an entirely new character. This is especially useful if you have a level 81 character that you're tired of, or that you've make perk mistakes with, but you don't feel like starting a new character and building him up all the way up from level 1.
  • 11 of 11: NOTE: After you return to Solstheim, you can activate the Tree Stone at the Temple of Miraak to get its special power. You can also go to the Skaal village and have a conversation with Frea about Miraak's destruction.
