The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

New Perks

  • There are no new perks for your regular skills, but there are new perk trees for vampires and werewolves. Note that the vampire skill tree can only be accessed while you're in vampire lord form, and the werewolf skill tree can only be accessed while you're in beast form.

There's no new way to become a werewolf in Dawnguard. You'll just have to use the old way of doing quests for the Companions faction. (See the main Skyrim hint file.) To gain werewolf perk points, kill NPC enemies and then feed on them. Each time you do that, you'll get some credit toward your next perk point. You can press the "Character Menu" key to bring up your werewolf perk screen, then check the progress line that's under the word "werewolf" to see how close you are to earning another werewolf perk point. Once you have a point, you should spend it right away on one of the available perks.

If you keep going around, killing NPC enemies such as bandits and feeding on their corpses, you can pretty quickly get all of the werewolf perks. Note that it helps to have the Ring of Hircine from the "Ill Met By Moonlight" Daedric quest, since it'll allow you more than one werewolf transformation per day. It also helps to get the Savage Feeding werewolf perk as soon as possible, since it lets you feed on most creatures, too. And no one says you have to kill your feeding victims while in werewolf form. You can kill all the enemies in an area in your regular form, then transform into a werewolf and feed on all of their bodies for some easy perk credit.

Earning perk points for the vampire skill tree works the same, except that instead of feeding on dead enemies, you'll need to kill live enemies with your right-hand spell when hovering or by using a bite power attack when not hovering. Also, you can get perk credit from most types of enemy, not just NPCs.
