The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Explore Castle Volkihar's Courtyard.
1 of 9: Get Serana to be your follower if she isn't already, then fast-travel back to Castle Volkihar.
2 of 9: Go up to the start of the large curving stone bridge that leads to the castle's front door, but don't get on it. Instead, turn left and go north to the edge of the island.
3 of 9: Follow the island's edge around until you reach a dock area that's guarded by several skeletons. Fight them as you make your way up to the entrance to the Volkihar Undercroft area.
4 of 9: Enter the undercroft and kill a skeever, then sneak over to the smaller of the two nearby wooden doors and open it. Past it is a small balcony that you can use as a sniping vantage point to shoot at the death hounds in the next room.
5 of 9: After you finish off all the hounds you can see, enter their room through the larger wooden doors. Check the upper floor in the back of the room to possibly find one or two more hounds, plus a feral vampire.
6 of 9: Go up the stairs in the side room to find a lever, then use it and jump over the railing (or go back around) to get to the bridge that it lowered.
7 of 9: You'll now need to lower another bridge so you can reach the exit that leads to the castle's courtyard.
8 of 9: After you lower that bridge, retrace your route to return to the stone bridge, then cross the newly lowered bridge.
9 of 9: Go down the passage past the bridge until you reach a door, then use it to enter the Volkihar Courtyard area. Once there, follow Serana around until you get the next objective.
