The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Steal the statue in the Temple of Dibella.

  • 1 of 7: Find the beggar named Degaine in or near Markarth's Silver-Blood Inn. Ask him if he said something about money, then ask if he wants you to steal the statue.
  • 2 of 7: See the "The Heart of Dibella" side quest for how to get into the temple's Inner Sanctum.
  • 3 of 7: When you speak to Hamal, you can choose to undertake her penance or insist that the statue is yours. Choosing the penance will fail this objective and let you do the above-mentioned side quest. Insisting that the statue is yours will allow you to finish this objective, but will prevent you from doing the side quest.
  • 4 of 7: TIP: You can do both this objective and the side quest if you sneak into the Inner Sanctum and steal the statue without being seen or talked to. This is fairly easy to do if you use Invisibility potions and the side area that's to the left of where the priestesses are gathered. Sneak out and give the statue to Degaine, then return to the Inner Sanctum and talk to Hamal to get the quest.
  • 5 of 7: If you talk to Hamal and insist that the statue is yours, she and the others will turn hostile, and you'll have to kill them all. After that, go to the back room and grab the statue that's on a stone table against the back wall.
  • 6 of 7: To return to the main temple area, you'll have to re-pick the lock on the door (unless you pickpocketed the key earlier).
  • 7 of 7: Go give the statue to Degaine to get some gold as a reward.
