Steal Madesi's Ring.
1 of 3: Go a short distance straight south from Brynjolf's stall to find Madesi's, then go behind it and crouch down.
2 of 3: Pick the lock on the sliding door, then pick the lock on Madesi's strongbox. (Or pickpocket Madesi's market key so you can skip the lockpicking.)
3 of 3: Take the ring from the strongbox (and anything else you want) to get the next objective.
