How can I get to that room without using the shortcut?
1 of 7: Go down the nearby passage to reach a trapped door.
2 of 7: As soon as you open the door, back up to avoid getting skewered by the trap. (Or disarm the trap before opening the door by activating its wire and doing a lockpicking minigame.)
3 of 7: In the room past the door, go down the southern passage to find a skeever.
4 of 7: Kill it, then open the door at the end of the passage to find a room with several bear traps and a hostile fist fighter named Gian the Fist. (TIP: Lead him back to the room with the oil spill, then ignite it with the Flames spell to burn him.)
5 of 7: Carefully move close to each bear trap so you can activate it to snap it shut, then go through the door on the other side of the room.
6 of 7: Move slowly up the right side of the stairs so you can avoid a trap's pressure plate that's near the top.
7 of 7: Go through an area where an iron battleaxe thinks it's Axe-Caliber to reach the lowlife's room. (Note that the lowlife may have stolen the axe.)
