The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Defeat and trap Odahviing.
1 of 3: Wait and watch for Odahviing, ready to hit him with the Dragonrend shout as soon as you can. (It's easiest to wait until he's hovering nearby and flaming a guard.)
2 of 3: Right after you successfully rend him, turn and sprint for the door that leads back into Dragonsreach.
3 of 3: Don't go through the door -- just stand and wait for Odahviing to be trapped.
