The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Learn the truth from Daynas Valen.
1 of 6: Enter Folgunthur and watch for a pressure plate on the floor as you go down the passage to the first room.
2 of 6: Its rotating pillar puzzle has already been solved by Valen's people, so move on past it (watching for another pressure plate) to an area where several draugr attack you. (Note that the gate that closes behind you can be opened with a pull chain that's to the right of it.)
3 of 6: After you dispatch the draugr, go to the north end of their room to find the bottom of a stairwell. However, don't step on its grated flooring, or it'll open up and dump you into the water.
4 of 6: Peek into the stairwell area and find a lever over on the right. Use it twice to hopefully keep the floor from dumping you when you step on it. If you get dumped, swim up to the surface and over to where you can use the lever.
5 of 6: From the top of the stairwell, go across the wooden bridge and around a stone pillar to find Daynas Valen's body.
