The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Obtain Calcemo's Falmer Translating Guide.

  • 1 of 11: Go to the west side of the museum to find the locked door to Calcemo's Laboratory, which is also opened by the museum key.
  • 2 of 11: Go to the west side of the laboratory's first large room to find some big doors that lead to a second large room with some guards in it.
  • 3 of 11: If you want to fight the guards, grab the spider control rod that's in a side room to the left of the locked gate. That'll give you a friendly dwarven spider companion for the fight, but note that it can be killed, and there are no more where it came from.
  • 4 of 11: If you'd rather sneak through the area, crouch down and use the Muffle spell and then an Invisibility potion before entering the guarded room. Go to the other side of the room to find some locked doors that you need to get through.
  • 5 of 11: If you went and got the bedroom key, use another Invisibility potion to sneak back to the locked doors unseen. Wait if necessary until no guards are looking your way, then quickly open the doors, go through them, and close them behind you.
  • 6 of 11: Renew your Muffle spell and drink another Invisibility potion, then sneak down the hallway on the left that two guards are patrolling. At the other end, look on the right for a large red valve wheel on a big pipe that you can use to activate the trap and kill the guards. (That isn't necessary, but you might as well do it. Opening the next door will cancel your invisibility, anyway.)
  • 7 of 11: Open the nearby door and sneak along until you come to another room. You'll need to go through the door on its other side, so wait and watch until the patrolling guard is moving away from that door. Sneak over there and open the door, then quickly go through it and close it behind you. If you're careful and quick, you can do this without using an Invisibility potion.
  • 8 of 11: Past the door, sneak along the right side of the passage until you reach a red valve wheel on your left, then use it to kill the guards in the adjacent room. One or more of them may escape the traps, but they'll be too intent on fleeing to see you at the valve wheel. Wait until all the guards are dead or gone, then use the valve wheel again to turn the traps off.
  • 9 of 11: NOTE: This is a good time to get the item for the "Return the Dwemer Puzzle Cube to Delvin" miscellaneous quest.
  • 10 of 11: Use the door on the east side of the trap room to exit to a balcony, then turn right and go up the steps to find a door that takes you into Calcemo's Tower. Enter it, then move forward to see the translation stone that you want on a higher floor.
  • 11 of 11: Activate the stone to finish this objective and get the next one.
