The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Discover evidence of Mercer's location.
1 of 9: Kill the bandits on the upper floor, then go down the stairs to the ground floor.
2 of 9: Turn left and go through the doors, then look for a suspicious cabinet. (It'll be called that in the game.)
3 of 9: Open the cabinet and activate its false back panel to find a secret passage.
4 of 9: Go down the stairs and enter the sewer tunnel, watching for a trap's pressure plate next to some bars.
5 of 9: Past that is a room that you'll want to sprint or jump your way across to take minimal damage from all the flame traps.
6 of 9: Avoid the pressure plate past that, then move down to a dangerous area with swinging blade and log traps.
7 of 9: Quicksave, then sprint your way past the three trap sets. If your timing is off, quickrestore and try again. (Note that there are small safe spaces between trap sets, so you might want to try getting past them one set at a time.)
8 of 9: When you come to a door, either disarm the trap trigger that's to the left of it, or stand in the corner on the left or right side of the door when opening it.
9 of 9: In the room past the door, grab the "Mercer's Plans" document from the table to get the next objective.
