The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Using the Console
Press the ~ key (the one just left of the 1 key) at any time while playing to bring up the console line. On it, you can type any cheat command and press ENTER to make it happen. Note that the game is paused while the console is up.
Several of the cheat info sections mention selecting another person or thing in the game. This means you need to stand to where you can see the person or item you're selecting, press ~ to get the console line, and then click on the person or item to get its internal codename to appear near the center of the screen. If the action you try to take on that item doesn't work, try closing the console, reopening it, and selecting the item again. If it still doesn't work, try using the "disable" command and then reselecting the item.
NOTE: You can scroll back through the console commands you've entered with the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys, and can repeat a command by pressing ENTER when it's displayed.
