The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Perform the ritual with Valdar.
1 of 6: Before you leave the third vessel's room, note that taking it briefly lowered the spear gate that blocks access to a Word Wall and a treasure chest. If you don't get past the spears before they raise back up, jump onto the pedestal to lower them again, then quickly run past them.
2 of 6: Look to the right of the Word Wall alcove for a gate you can open with a pull chain that's to the right of it.
3 of 6: Move past the gate to find a door that leads back to the main Valthume area.
4 of 6: Unbar and open the wooden door you come to, then head north until you return to the area's entry chamber, where Valdar's spirit is waiting for you.
5 of 6: Talk to the spirit, then go activate the interactive sconce that's behind it.
6 of 6: After that's done, sit on the throne that's behind the sconce to get the next objective.
