The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Defeat Kvenel.
1 of 6: Use the door to enter the Volunruud Elder's Cairn area, then go down the passage slowly while looking up.
2 of 6: When you come to where you can see a small stone bridge above you, maneuver around so that you can hit the two draugr up near the bridge with arrows or spells. Try to finish them both off before moving on.
3 of 6: As you proceed, watch for a draugr to rise from a sarcophagus. Stay back and try to finish it off without getting the attention of the powerful spirit of Kvenel the Tongue in the large chamber ahead.
4 of 6: Either sneak into Kvenel's chamber and over to the right, where some steps go past a Word Wall, or sprint over that way. You'll want to reach the small stone bridge and cross it, then finish off any draugr you didn't get from below.
5 of 6: Kvenel is reluctant to cross that bridge, and you may be able to use that against him. Sneak over to where you can sneak-shoot him with arrows, then quickly retreat back across the bridge when he comes after you. If he does cross the bridge, drop down to the lower passage and sprint back toward his chamber in an effort to lose him.
6 of 6: If you can defeat Kvenel, you'll finish the quest, and will be able to get either or both of his unique weapons (Eduj and Okin) from his remains. Which one(s) you get is random, and seems to be set early on (maybe when you first enter Volunruud). Note that re-searching his remains several times might help.
