Find the danger within Saarthal.

  • 1 of 11: Go to the other side of the draugrs' chamber to find a door that leads to another section of Saarthal.
  • 2 of 11: Use the pull chains on both sides of the door to remove the obstacles, then go through it and move down the passage slowly. (NOTE: If you later decide to backtrack, you can pull those two chains again to open up the gate that blocks the way back.)
  • 3 of 11: After you fight a draugr, look on the floor where the passage turns right for a magic rune. That's a form of trap, so carefully avoid it as you go by, and if you retreat back past it while fighting the next draugr. (Or stay back and take it out with the Flames spell.)
  • 4 of 11: Go up some stairs and turn left to find a restless draugr guarding an iron door. Stay back and hit him with as many ranged attacks as you can, since he can be tough to take on by yourself.
  • 5 of 11: Past the iron door, watch for a dart trap's floor plate near a chest. Either avoid it or use it to help you damage the draugr who attack.
  • 6 of 11: Beyond that, you'll come to a lever and a closed gate. Don't use the lever yet, since it'll set off a dart trap.
  • 7 of 11: Go through another iron door to find a room with a draugr wight in it. It's even more powerful than the restless draugr, but it's fairly easy to dodge its blows by running around, so keep doing that and hitting it with spells, arrows, or whatever.
  • 8 of 11: Go up either set of log stairs and through an iron door, then use the Flames spell to take out two magic rune traps from a safe distance. Past them is another closed-gate-and-lever gimmick.
  • 9 of 11: Past the gate, watch for a dart trap's floor plate at an intersection. Go right if you want to use an alchemy lab, then go the other way to find an iron door that leads to a large chamber.
  • 10 of 11: Go up to the edge of the upper floor and look down to see a special named draugr sitting on a throne next to a table. You're going to have to fight it next.
  • 11 of 11: After Gauldurson is defeated, talk to Tolfdir and ask him what the big floating thing is to get the next objective. (TIP: Loot Gauldurson's body to find an amulet that adds 30 to your magicka when worn.)
