Wanted: Soul Gems.
1 of 4: Talk to Sergius Turrianus in the Hall of Countenance about College business to learn that he needs a random number of a random type of soul gem.
2 of 4: TIP: If you're still low-level, quicksave before talking to him, then keep quickrestoring and trying again until he says he needs lesser or petty soul gems. They'll be a lot easier for you to get.
3 of 4: You'll then need to go find and/or buy the soul gems he wants. Note that they have to be empty soul gems, not ones with souls already in them.
4 of 4: Return to Sergius when you have what he needs to get paid a bit more for the gems than they're worth.
