The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Additional Job Quests

  • Any time after you finish the third objective of the "Loud and Clear" main-line quest, you can talk to Vex and Delvin Mallory in the Ragged Flagon about extra work. They each have several different types of thiefly jobs to do, and you can choose which type you want to do next. Note that you can only have one job from each job-giver at a time, though you can quit a job instead of finishing it in order to be able to choose another one right away.

All of the jobs involve random targets, which makes detailed hints impossible, so only brief summaries are given below. You can do each type of job any number of times. Many of them will build up "guild credit" in various cities, which will eventually allow you to do special city influence quests. Note that if you're wanting to build up credit in a particular city, you can quicksave right before taking a job, then quickrestore and try again if it doesn't take place in a city that you want to do a job in.

    * The Bedlam Job: Talk to Delvin Mallory about extra work, then ask about the bedlam jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then go to the randomly chosen city and steal enough items to add up to the total that's given in the objective name. You mustn't be seen stealing the items, and pickpocketed items don't count -- only loose items and items inside containers that you take unseen. Once you reach the total, you'll get a new objective, and you can report back to Delvin.

    * The Burglary Job: Talk to Vex about extra work, then ask about the burglary jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then travel to the randomly chosen city and enter the randomly chosen home. Depending on the time of day, you may have to pick a lock to get in (or pickpocket the key if you can find the owner), and you may need to sneak around inside to avoid charges of trespassing. Follow the quest arrow to the target item, then take it while no one is looking. After you make your escape, report back to Vex.

    * The Fishing Job: Talk to Delvin Mallory about extra work, then ask about the fishing jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then go to the randomly chosen city and use the quest arrow to locate the randomly chosen person. Quicksave, then try to pickpocket the target item from the person. Quickrestore and try again if necessary until you get the item, then report back to Delvin.

    * The Heist Job: Talk to Vex about extra work, then ask about the heist jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then travel to the randomly chosen city and enter the randomly chosen shop. Follow the quest arrow to the strongbox, then pick it open and take everything from it when you can do so unseen. After that, report back to Vex.

    * The Numbers Job: Talk to Delvin Mallory about extra work, then ask about the numbers jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then go to the randomly chosen store in the randomly chosen city and search it to find a large open business ledger book. Activate the book when no one can see you do it to make the required changes, then report back to Delvin.

    * The Shill Job: Talk to Vex about extra work, then ask about the shill jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then travel to the randomly chosen city and enter the randomly chosen home. Depending on the time of day, you may have to pick a lock to get in (or pickpocket the key if you can find the owner), and you may need to sneak around inside to avoid charges of trespassing. Follow the quest arrow to the targeted container item, then open it and put in the stolen item that Vex gave you. After you make your escape, report back to Vex.

    * The Sweep Job: Talk to Vex about extra work, then ask about the sweep jobs. Accept the job to get this quest, then travel to the randomly chosen city and enter the randomly chosen home. Depending on the time of day, you may have to pick a lock to get in (or pickpocket the key if you can find the owner), and you may need to sneak around inside to avoid charges of trespassing. Follow the quest arrows to all of the target items and take them while no one is looking. After you make your escape, report back to Vex.
