The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Find the Augur of Dunlain.
1 of 9: Start asking around the college about the Augur of Dunlain to see what you can learn.
2 of 9: Savos Aren is nearby. Ask him to be referred (indirectly) to Tolfdir.
3 of 9: Follow the quest arrow to Tolfdir, then ask him about the Augur of Dunlain to learn that it's in the college's dungeon-like Midden area.
4 of 9: Follow the quest arrow to a trap door that leads to the Midden, then go down the passage to its first room.
5 of 9: Go down the stairs, then turn right and go through the window that doesn't have any bars on it to shortcut your way to the room past it. (Note that you might want to hit the draugr in that room with ranged attacks before dropping down.)
6 of 9: Go through the door in the SW corner of that room's lower floor, then use the next door to enter the Midden Dark area.
7 of 9: Cross the bridge in the first room, then take the passage on the left in the second room.
8 of 9: Move up to the locked door to hear the augur's voice, then wait until it opens.
9 of 9: Enter the room past it and activate the well-like Augur of Dunlain device. Talk to it until you get the next objective.
