The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Plant the Balmora Blue.
1 of 8: Find the Dainty Sload docked a ways NE of Solitude, then sneak onto its deck.
2 of 8: All of the corsairs on board will become hostile if they see you. It's okay to kill them all if you like, but you may prefer to use the Muffle and Invisibility spells to help you sneak in and out unseen.
3 of 8: Enter the ship and go down the stairs, then turn left and go past a side room with a couple of corsairs in it.
4 of 8: Past that, go through a door and past another small side room that might have a corsair in it.
5 of 8: Go down the stairs past that to enter the hold, then kill or sneak past another corsair to reach the stairs on the other side.
6 of 8: Go up them, then turn right and go around to where the captain's chest is.
7 of 8: Either pick its lock or get the key from the nearby first mate (by killing or sneakily pickpocketing him).
8 of 8: Put the Balmora Blue potion into the chest to get the next objective.
