The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Force Jarl Balgruuf the Greater to surrender.
1 of 6: Go through the nearby city gates to enter Whiterun, then go east down the street, helping your allies fight the Whiterun guards.
2 of 6: When you reach the open-air market area, turn left and go up some stairs to find a wooden barricade to destroy.
3 of 6: Hang back and let your allies take on the guards past the barricade, then go past the huge tree and up the stairs.
4 of 6: Keep going until you get to another barricade, then destroy it so you can get to Dragonsreach's entry doors.
5 of 6: After you enter, hang back and hack up the guards who charge you, then move forward to take on the Jarl and his personal guards.
6 of 6: After they're beaten, the Jarl will call for a surrender, and you'll get the next objective.
