What should I tell the toll bandit?
1 of 3: You can say you don't have the gold (even if you do) in order to start a combat, but beware all the bandit archers in elevated positions.
2 of 3: If you pay the toll, or succeed in using the persuade or intimidate dialogue options, you can move on without a fight. However, you won't be able to explore and loot the towers without the bandits turning hostile.
3 of 3: You could kill the toll-collecting bandit, then run on down the path to escape the other bandits. However, if you have Lydia or another follower with you, she'll probably stay to fight the bandits. (Though she should catch up to you eventually if you move down the path far enough.)
