The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

What about selling stolen goods and bounty removal service?

  • 1 of 6: After you finish the third objective of the "Loud and Clear" main-line quest, you can sell stolen goods to Tonilia in the Ragged Flagon. You can also pay off your Rift hold bounty by talking to any guard within that hold and giving him half your bounty in gold.
  • 2 of 6: You can then start working on the additional job quests, which will in turn let you do the city influence quests. After you finish a city influence quest, you'll have the same bounty-removal option within that city's hold that you have in the Rift hold.
  • 3 of 6: After you finish all four city influence quests, you'll be able to pay off your bounties at half price in the Eastmarch (Windhelm), Haafingar (Solitude), Reach (Markarth), Rift (Riften), and Whiterun holds. In the other four holds, you'll have to be careful to not get a bounty, or be satisfied with the option to bribe a guard to look the other way.
  • 4 of 6: You'll gain five more fences to sell stolen goods to as you do the city influence quests. Niranye in Windhelm's open-air market will be a fence after you finish the "Summerset Shadows" quest, and Endon in the area near his house in Markarth will be a fence after you finish the "Silver Lining" quest.
  • 5 of 6: The other three travel with the khajiit caravans. Do Tonilia's "Deliver Moon Sugar to Ri'saad" miscellaneous quest to make them available.
  • 6 of 6: All of the other fences become available after finishing certain main-line quests.
