The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Kill Lu'ah Al-Skaven in Ansilvund.

  • 1 of 16: Travel to Ansilvund and kill the mage in the outdoor camp, then enter the Ansilvund Excavation area.
  • 2 of 16: Go down to the first cave room, then get up on the wooden structure and go along it to reach a passage with a draugr in it.
  • 3 of 16: Move down it and around some wooden walls to find more draugr and a couple of mages near an oil spill. (Try to sneak up to that area and ignite the oil with the Flames spell before they see you.)
  • 4 of 16: Head down the east passage to reach a room with a large flaming brazier, watching out for a couple of traps on the way. Soon after you enter the room, Lu'ah will speak to you and give you this objective.
  • 5 of 16: Kill the nearby mage, then go up the wooden ramp and on to a room with three mages and a draugr in it. After finishing them off, go down a wide passage, ready to fight a bunch of draugr that arise at Lu'ah's command.
  • 6 of 16: Look for a narrow side passage that leads to a room with a large "rising column" trap in the middle, then go up the log stairs and across to a room where a draugr is swinging his weapon at the wall. (Doesn't he know that you can't get any practice credit for that?)
  • 7 of 16: Down the next tunnel, you'll come to the tripwire-guarded entrance to a large room. Activate the tripwire and back up, then push past the rocks and fight the draugr, mage, and atronach that are in the room.
  • 8 of 16: Past the gate is a door to the Ansilvund Burial Chambers area. Enter it, then watch out for a long row of pressure plates past the first corner.
  • 9 of 16: Not far past the final pressure plate is a room with several draugr in it. Try to avoid the row of fire trap pressure plates in the room as you fight the draugr and go over to the log stairs.
  • 10 of 16: Past the stairs, cross the stone bridges to reach the other side of the room, then go over to the "encaged" bridge and open its locked gate.
  • 11 of 16: Cross the bridge and go through a door, then fight a draugr and a mage as you move along the passage. Go up a curvy wooden ramp and through a door, then carefully go around the fiery brazier on the long stone bridge.
  • 12 of 16: Past it are several pressure plates, some of which activate swinging gate traps that can knock you off the bridge. Carefully edge past them or jump over them, or maybe just sprint across.
  • 13 of 16: After taking down a necromancer, move on to a long crypt passage where Lu'ah remotely raises several more draugr to fight you. Avoid the "rising column" trap at the end of the passage, then look east of it for the next passage.
  • 14 of 16: It leads to the door to Lu'ah's large chamber. Try to hit her with a sneak attack or two before she and two powerful draugr named Fjori and Holgeir attack. Retreat as far as you have to in order to avoid being overwhelmed.
  • 15 of 16: After Lu'ah and the draugr are killed, go to the back of their chamber and wait for the spirits of Fjori and Holgeir to put the unique ghostblade sword on the nearby altar for you. It's not the most powerful sword in the game, but it is the lightest, and its enchantment has unlimited charge.
  • 16 of 16: Get Lu'ah's key from her body, then go up the northern set of log stairs to find a door that it'll open. In the next room is some loot (including a rare spell tome for the Transmute spell), plus a door that leads back to the Ansilvund Excavation area. Go up a stairwell and through a door, then drop down to a spot near the exit.
