The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Heal Valdr's injuries.
1 of 7: As you approach the entrance to Moss Mother Cavern, an injured guy named Valdr will call out to you for help.
2 of 7: Talk to him to find out what happened, then either give him a healing potion in dialogue (if you have one) or say that you have a spell that might work.
3 of 7: If you want to use a spell, the Restoration spells Healing Hands, Heal Other, and Grand Healing will all work.
4 of 7: After you heal Valdr one way or the other, you can agree to help him clear out Moss Mother Cavern, or you can tell him to stay there while you do it alone. (Note that he's unkillable, so you might as well have him go with you.)
5 of 7: Enter the cave and move forward to find a spriggan near some dead bodies. Hang back and kill it, then go down the lower pathway to find a bear to kill.
6 of 7: Past that is the main cave chamber, where two spriggans will attack you. If you don't see them right away, try moving around near the pond and the far east side of the cave.
7 of 7: After both of those spriggans are killed, go talk to Valdr to get his unique lucky dagger.
