What does being Thane mean?
1 of 4: The main effect is that you now have a follower named Lydia.
2 of 4: You'll find her near the exit door, and can ask her to come with you now if you want.
3 of 4: She'll help out with combat, carry stuff for you, etc. Talk to her when you want to trade items, have her wait somewhere, or whatever.
4 of 4: Another privilege of being Thane is that if you're caught committing a crime, you can get away with it by telling the arresting guard that you're the Thane. However, that only works once.
