Find Gleda the Goat.
1 of 4: Instead of going after the goat, you could try to persuade or intimidate Ennis into giving you the "Talk to Ysolda in Whiterun about the staff" objective right away. If that fails, you could bribe him if you have 1000 gold to spare.
2 of 4: Otherwise, use the quest arrow to help you track down his precious goat.
3 of 4: You'll find it near the giant who you allegedly sold it to. How you were ever able to interact peaceably with a giant will forever remain unknown, but you need to get that goat back.
4 of 4: To do that, go up to the goat and "talk" to it to get the next objective.
