How can I use the book's clues to figure out the sequence?
1 of 7: The first clue says that the first fears all, and the second fears none.
2 of 7: Of the four choices you have (fox, snake, wolf, and bear), it would be most reasonable to say that the bear is the one that fears none. That means its lever is the second in the correct sequence.
3 of 7: As for which animal fears all, that's not so clear, so skip to the other two clues.
4 of 7: The third clue, which says that the fourth fears the second when alone, is pretty clearly referring to wolves, since they're usually fearless when hunting in a pack.
5 of 7: That leaves the fox and snake. Which one of those is more likely to eat the other, as the second clue mentions?
6 of 7: It makes more sense for foxes to eat snakes than it does for snakes to eat foxes, so the third animal in the sequence must be the fox, leaving the snake to be the first.
7 of 7: So the correct sequence is: snake, bear, fox, wolf.
