The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Follow Madanach.

  • 1 of 7: Follow Madanach to the central cave area, then wait until he talks to you.
  • 2 of 7: Follow him some more he goes through a door to the Markarth Ruins area.
  • 3 of 7: Go through the door, then keep following him along, letting him and the others fight the spiders and dwarven machines as you come to them.
  • 4 of 7: You'll eventually reach the exit area, where Madanach will talk to you. After he returns all your confiscated goods and gives you the Old Gods armor set, follow him out the door.
  • 5 of 7: NOTE: Right after Madanach gives you your stuff, you can equip your best armor and weapon, then quickly attack him before he leaves. It'll be *very* tough, but if you can kill him and his followers, you can go outside and talk to Thonar Silver-Blood to get the other quest reward, too. When Madanach dies, you'll jump to the "Search Madanach's body" objective.
  • 6 of 7: Wait for the quest to end, after which Madanach and the other escapees will fight their way out of the city. You won't have to do that, and can fast-travel away if you like -- though you might find it more profitable to follow the forsworn along and loot their victims. (Also, return to the Shrine of Talos and loot Eltrys' body to find a good chunk of gold.)
  • 7 of 7: One final note is that the forsworn at the Druadach Redoubt will be friendly to you from now on.
