The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Gauldurson Combat Tips
of 11: First up is Mikrul Gauldurson and a bunch of draugr thralls.
of 11: NOTE: Before you place the third amulet fragment, you could use a rune spell (Fire Rune, Frost Rune, or Lightning Rune) or a two-handed weapon to attack the draugr thralls in their sarcos and force them out early. That way, after you place the third amulet fragment, you can fight Mikrul alone.
of 11: As soon as you place the third amulet fragment, turn and sprint back to the chamber's entrance. Its gate will have closed, so crouch down next to it and wait for Mikrul to appear near you with his back turned.
of 11: Hit him with your most powerful sneak attack, then stand up and sprint around the chamber to avoid his blows while finishing off his weaker thralls. After they're all dead, finish off Mikrul.
of 11: If you lead Mikrul over to the gate-barred entry doorway when his health is low, you can finish him off there, then crouch down next to the gate to get the drop on the next brother, which will be Sigdis. (NOTE: You can use the wait menu to wait an hour to restore all your health, magicka, and stamina while waiting for Sigdis to appear.)
of 11: Sigdis will pull his favorite trick of making duplicates of himself. This time, they'll all glow blue, so you'll have to use their helmets' horns to tell them apart.
of 11: Sigdis' helmet horns will curve downward, and the dupes' horns will point upward. Wait where you are until you can spot the real Sigdis, then hit him with a ranged sneak attack.
of 11: That should make him teleport around and create new duplicates, after which you can repeat the process of identifying and shooting the real Sigdis. If you're careful, you can finish him off without coming under attack (just like in Geirmund's Hall). If not, you can use the wait menu to rest an hour to heal every time he teleports.
of 11: Last up is Jyrik. He also can teleport around, and he has the same rotating elemental shield that he did in Saarthal.
of 11: Stay crouched next to the gate so you can sneak-shoot him, then try to damage him enough to cause him to teleport before he can reach you. That way, you'll be hidden again, and can repeat the sneak attack.
of 11: You should be able to take Jyrik down without him being able to attack you. When you do, the combat will be over.
