The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Bring a filled Black Soul Gem to Morthal.
1 of 6: Pre-filled black soul gems are only available as very rare random loot, so you'll probably need to find an empty one and then fill it.
2 of 6: Falion will have an empty black soul gem in his merchant inventory, as will Enthir at the College of Winterhold.
3 of 6: Note that there may be a special dialogue option with Falion that'll let you buy his black soul gem really cheap. If so, use it.
4 of 6: If you'd rather find an empty black soul gem lying around, free for the taking, then you'll need to explore Broken Fang Cave, Hob's Fall Cave, or Fort Snowhawk.
5 of 6: Once you have an empty black soul gem, soul-trap a hostile NPC like a bandit or necromancer in it. See the Enchanting Practice Tips for more about soul-trapping.
6 of 6: Return to Morthal and tell Falion that you have a filled black soul gem to get the next objective.
