The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Where all can I find dragons to kill?
1 of 5: The main places are dragon lairs, which are marked with dragon-head symbols on the world map.
2 of 5: You may have already visited a dragon lair and not found a dragon, since you hadn't killed Mirmulnir yet. If so, return to the lair to find that there is a dragon there now.
3 of 5: Also, there's a chance of a random dragon encounter every time you fast-travel on the world map, plus whenever you approach a random encounter spot. It's a fairly low chance, and even if it happens, the dragon may just circle around a few times and then fly away without attacking.
4 of 5: If you get a random dragon encounter and want to kill the dragon, try running around in the area that it's circling over. Also, summon a creature like a flame atronach that can (if you're lucky) hit it with some ranged attacks. (Trying to hit it yourself with arrows or spells will be just about impossible, even if you use a fast-moving spell like Lightning Bolt.)
5 of 5: When you go dragon hunting, be sure to use the Combat Tips to the fullest. Also, take along equipment and potions that can give you resistance to fire and frost, especially if your magic resistance is low.
