How do I open the gate?

  • 1 of 24: This is quite complicated.  DO NOT read all these clues through at once.  Go back, try the next part, and see if you can work it out.
  • 2 of 24: Have you examined the pillars?
  • 3 of 24: Have you tried opening a hatch?
  • 4 of 24: Can't do it, huh?  What might help?
  • 5 of 24: You can use something you found nearby.
  • 6 of 24: It can be found west of the chimney.
  • 7 of 24: It's the red pod. (It was growing on a vine.)
  • 8 of 24: 'PUT RED POD ON HATCH'  Now go explore.  I'll wait.
  • 9 of 24: What did you find?
  • 10 of 24: Be sure to check out what's in both pillars. (save first)
  • 11 of 24: Did you examine everything?
  • 12 of 24: Including the roof?
  • 13 of 24: Hey, more red pods!  Now you can go open the other pillar!
  • 14 of 24: You have more than enough red pods.  What else could you do with them?
  • 15 of 24: The counterweight seems to be stuck.
  • 16 of 24: 'PUT RED POD ON PULLEY' (in the east tower)
  • 17 of 24: Nothing's moving yet?  Maybe more oil?
  • 18 of 24: Maybe oil the other pulley?
  • 19 of 24: Still won't move?  Maybe it needs an impetus from you.
  • 20 of 24: You need to PUSH something.
  • 21 of 24: Try pushing a tower.
  • 22 of 24: Did the cable come loose?  Oops. 
  • 23 of 24: Maybe you shouldn't have done something.
  • 24 of 24: Don't oil the pulley in the west tower, but do oil the pulley in the east tower.  Then, when you push the west tower, the gate will open.
