What do I do in the tower?
1 of 9: Have you examined the control panel?
2 of 9: Basically, what you're looking at is a diagram of the local river system, and the controls control the currents in each of the canals. (The buttons turn the currents in each canal on and off, while the switches change the direction of the currents. The top set of controls controls the upper canal, the middle controls the middle canal, and the bottom controls the lower one.)
3 of 9: You need to find a way to get the barge through the canal without the police boat catching you.
4 of 9: Have you decoded the message from your log yet?
5 of 9: You need to use the barge train to block the police boat.
6 of 9: Basically, you need to get your barge through the canal and out of the way of the police boat first, and then move the barge train so it blocks the police boat. Once this is done, you will be able to get through the river with no problems.
7 of 9: The next hint contains explicit instructions on how to do this -- don't look unless you're really stuck.
8 of 9: First turn on the current in the middle canal and switch its direction, turn on the bottom canal's current and reverse its direction, then wait. Turn on the upper canal's current and wait twice. Your barge will move down the middle canal, and to the far left of the lower canal. The barge train will begin to move down the middle canal. Once it is there, turn off the top and bottom currents, then reverse the direction of the middle current. The barge train will move upwards, blocking the police boat. Turn the middle canal's current off, then turn the lower canal's current on. Reverse the lower canal's current so it is moving to the right. Your barge is now in a perfect position to leave.
9 of 9: But you have to hurry... The current is moving, and you need to catch the barge while you still can.
