Spellbreaker Hints

I still can't get out of the Octogonal Rooms.

  • 1 of 7: The Octogonal Rooms are a three-by-three grid of rooms.  When you enter from the Carving Room, you enter the southeast corner.  The object is to get to the second room on the top row.  (Your actual object is to get to the top left corner, but the runes don't allow direct movement into that room.)
  • 2 of 7: To move from room to room, touch the compass rose to the rune on the wall in the direction you want to travel, as long as that rune is made of silver.
  • 3 of 7: Any interior exits will be silver runes, while any exits that would lead out of the square are lead.  The one exception is the central room, which only allows movement in the four cardinal directions.
  • 4 of 7: The problem is that, since each arm changes to lead after you move in that direction, you can only go in each direction once.  (If you get really stuck, however, you change all the arms back to silver by casting BLORPLE and going back to the Carving Room.  Putting the compass rose in the carving again will recharge it.)
  • 5 of 7: Unfortunately, this includes north, since you went north in order to get into the Octogonal Rooms in the first place.
  • 6 of 7: This leaves you with three possibilities for movement.  Don't look at the next clue unless you're really stuck.
  • 7 of 7: The three possibilities are: West then northwest then northeast; northwest then west then northeast; or west then northeast then northwest.
