System Shock Hints

Notes

  • There are energy mines that prevent you from getting to the center (at point G), and thus to the ladder that leads to the elevator.  Destroy any cameras as usual, so you can get to certain areas more easily.  Then look for the repulsors that work -- most don't, because security is too high.  Once you find the right one -- one leads to point G, and the other leads to a force door that you can't open yet -- go to point D and get the card that's on the floor, behind the desk.  You can now open that force door.  From here you can get to point F, which extends that bridge back to point G, and you can now cross the bridge to exit the level.

At the top at point H is the final showdown with Cyborg Edward Diego.  When he's gone, there will be a couple more enemies to deal with.  Search Diego after the chaos ends for the card to open the elevator.

Other notes: at point E you'll find some neat stuff.  Behind the force shield is an Ion Rifle.  Once the security is down to about 10%, you can open it and get it.

You should notice a big empty area on the right side of the map.  This is the infamous detention center.  In the disk version, there's a bug that prevents you from ever getting in there, because the lock in cyberspace doesn't work.  Well, I couldn't find the switch to open them in Cyberspace (point C -- the only thing I found was the Trioptoe game), even though I have the CD version.  So, I do not know what lies beyond those doors.  Sorry.

There's a way to cheat in this level: head to point G, and use your Jump Boots to manuever between the mines.  You'd better have v2 Jump Boots and a lot of energy, though.  And you'll also need patience to load several save games after you fail the first few tries!  This is TOUGH, but it can be done.  You need to use the Up arrow to move forward, the space bar at the exact right time so that you don't hit the mines, and the mouse to open the door once you get there.  Do this only if you're desperate.
