System Shock Hints

Notes

  • There's nothing really complicated you have to do here: flip three switches (points A, B, and C), get the Isolinear Chipset, insert the Chipset into the Access Panel, and then battle SHODAN in Cyberspace.

Getting the switch A really isn't that hard ... you might not be able to get past the force doors leading to that area, so jump down into that little pit and crawl through the tunnel.  Watch for mines and autobombs!

Switch B will require you to hit a button, which allows you to drop beneath the force bridges, and find the switch.

Switch C is also simple: press a button, and a door opens.  Behind that door is a bad guy and a button to open the next door.  Keep pressing buttons, killing enemies, etc. until a force bridge raises so that you can reach the middle island, which holds the switch.  Or you can get there with your jump boots.

Finally, get the Chipset at point E.  It's in a cage, but to get there simply go into the transporter.  Look down, get the Chipset, and push the button, which is either on the floor or the ceiling.  Now, go to the Computer Room (point D), insert the Chipset into the panel, and go into the middle area, which is now open.  Once you reach the middle (point F) you'll find the Master Cyberspace station.  Go in.

Now, of course, the object is to find SHODAN.  She looks like a distorted cone.  Simply manuever around, and don't stay on the mainstream -- explore.  You should be able to reach her soon.  Once you do, attack her with Pulser.  Now, two problems: if you have a slow computer, this part will run incredibly choppy, but you should be able to get off enough Pulser shots to get her.  The other problem is all of those white dots that will appear around the screen.  When there is enough of them, you lose, because SHODAN is trying to download herself into your brain.  If you see a picture of SHODAN's face, you lost.  If you see your guy outside of cyberspace, with a monitor saying "System Purged" in the background, you won!  You're done!

One note about the ending: after what happened, don't you think your character would learn his lesson?  :-)
