Star Trek: A Final Unity Hints

How do I get across these tiles?

  • 1 of 14: Take a look around the room.  Do any of the devices look familiar?
  • 2 of 14: There's another one of those sound-activated control panels in here.
  • 3 of 14: You'll need to use music to help you get across the room.
  • 4 of 14: Play the "Watch Your Step" orchestrion, and you'll notice that tiles appear across the chasm.
  • 5 of 14: As you'll find out, each of the orchestrions available in this room also creates its own pattern of tiles.
  • 6 of 14: You will need to use the orchestrions in the proper locations so that you can cross the tiles without getting sent back to the starting point.  Make sure that whenever you use an orchestrion, you will always have a tile underneath you once the tiles have changed.
  • 7 of 14: It may help to return to the solid ground before you play a new tune, so you can map out the tiles and figure out where the safe places to stand are.
  • 8 of 14: In case you need it, here's a map of the tile room -- I will use it when describing the solution to this puzzle.  The musical notes correspond to the orchestrions in this room, and each of the colored dots indicate squares where tiles appear when you play the orchestrion of the corresponding "color."  The colors are just something that I used to make the map easier to read, since it's easier to use colors than it is to try to describe the orchestrions as they appear in the game.
  • 9 of 14: If there is more than one dot on a square, then more than one orchestrion will make a tile appear there.  Those squares are the ones you will want to be standing on to change tile patterns safely.
  • 10 of 14: To get the first (purple) orchestrion, play the blue orchestrion ("Watch Your Step") and then just take the orchestrion.
  • 11 of 14: To get the second (red) orchestrion, play "Watch Your Step", then stand on the blue/purple exchange (the square with both a purple and a blue dot on it in the map) , and play the purple orchestrion.  You can then get the red orchestrion.
  • 12 of 14: To get the third (green) orchestrion, start out with the blue orchestrion, then play the purple orchestrion, the red one, and finally, the blue one again.  Of course, always make sure that you're standing in a safe location when you make the tile patterns change.
  • 13 of 14: And to get the fourth (yellow) orchestrion, play "Watch Your Step," then the purple, red, and green orchestrions in that order.
  • 14 of 14: Finally, to get to the niche at the far end of the room, use the blue, purple, red, blue, yellow, and green orchestrions in that order.
