What should I say to these aliens?
1 of 5: As far as I can tell, there are two major possibilities here -- both of which lead to different paths to the end. You might want to save now so you can explore both of the possibilities.
2 of 5: I'd recommend being nice to them, whatever you do.
3 of 5: Of all the minor variations that I know, the best two options involve being nice to the Chodak, but refusing to tell them about your encryption rod.
4 of 5: Your main decision is whether or not you have them show you the way to the Hall of Records. Having them show you seems to be roughly equivalent to many of the other options (like volunteering the rod), although you get to see more if you don't say anything about the rod.
