Undocumented Features

  • Here are some neat things not mentioned in the manual:

    In melee, press Alt-F9 to upgrade Player 1's ship (with full crew) and press Alt-F10 to upgrade Player 2's (or the computer's).

    Another trick for Hypermelee is to press the backslash ("\") key during combat. This will cause your ship to stop dead in its tracks.

    Also, there is an auto-battle for those that hate melee.  Just go into a star system, and when you see an enemy that you don't feel like fighting, send a bunch of your ships at them.  In other words, click on a bunch of ships, and then click on the enemy ships (red number on the overhead map).  The battle will then be done!
