Old Chapel: How can I open the safe?

  • 1 of 11: The safe has a series of eight symbols displayed near the bottom -- each on its own small tile.
  • 2 of 11: Clicking on one of the tiles will bring it closer, on the left side of the screen.
  • 3 of 11: Clicking on one of the empty spaces across the front of the safe will cause the close-up tile to move into that space.
  • 4 of 11: Before the safe will open, the tiles must be placed in the correct order.  To do that you will need to know the combination.
  • 5 of 11: Next, you will need to know how to convert each symbol into a number. 
  • 6 of 11: The numbers on the slip of paper are the numbers from one through eight -- and each number is only used once...
  • 7 of 11: ...therefore, we can assume that each different symbol represents a different number between one and eight.
  • 8 of 11: If you study the various symbols carefully, you might discover a way to relate each symbol to a number.
  • 9 of 11: It isn't how many lines each symbol has in it...
  • 10 of 11: ...but, instead, how many angles are in each symbol.
  • 11 of 11: If you have not yet moved the symbol tiles, they will be in the following order:  36185742.  You will need to rearrange the symbols into the combination: 74821536.
