What's this hint section about?
It's about the all the optional things you can talk to your companions about once you've got them aboard the Ebon Hawk that will lead to some sort of bonus for them and/or you. There are several opportunities to increase stats, get bonus XP, more Force points, etc.
However, note that it's impossible to describe all these things without giving away some main plot spoilers, so read with caution (and don't look at the secrets for any companion you haven't picked up yet).
NOTE: If you're unable to get a secret to work for you despite doing what I say is necessary, then you may just have to travel and do a bit more first, or you may not have enough influence with the companion. Also, the secrets with a ? in front of them are ones I was never able to verify for one reason or another, and might be bogus (but I doubt it since I've heard of them from several different sources).
