Do I have to fight the large mercenary band near the beach?
1 of 5: Bao-Dur talks to you when you get fairly near them, and you have some options to choose from.
2 of 5: Before you approach or sneak past the mercs, first run along the beach next to the water to get to where you can raid a plasteel container for some items.
3 of 5: You also might want to go back and sneak south along the west "wall" to get to two more hidden caches with mines set around them.
4 of 5: Armed with all that extra good stuff, you should (after saving your game) try a direct assault on the merc group. With energy resistance and other buff-ups, you should be able to take them all down and get lots of XP for it.
5 of 5: If not, you can move carefully around the area's perimeter until you reach the passage to the next area.
