Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords Hints
What are some good strategies for handling the droid combats?
1 of 6: If you didn't bring over any field survival pistols from the Prologue, use the vibroblade that you can find on a corpse right before you get your first droid combat (or you can use the plasma torch). After it's over, you can search one of the droids to find a mining laser that you can use as a blaster weapon.
2 of 6: In combats with only two droids, you'll probably be able to kill them both off without doing anything fancy or having to retreat. If so, just stand and regenerate vitality points right after the battle's over so that you'll be fresh for the next combat.
3 of 6: If you must retreat, run quickly back the way you came until the droids are too far away to follow you, then stand and regenerate until you're ready to run back to battle. Or if you have plenty of medpacs, you can pause the game, use a medpac from the inventory screen or the action menu, and then unpause.
4 of 6: Before you have to fight more than two droids at once, you'll find a couple of ion grenades in a security locker. A good way to start a combat with more than two droids is to hit one with an ion grenade. After that, finish the survivors off with your gun or sword.
5 of 6: You should be able to level up for the first time after your first three-droid combat just past the security room. When you do, get Energy Resistance as your new force power, since you can use it to protect yourself from the droids' blasters during combat.
6 of 6: In one of the footlockers in the room with the first three-droid combat is a stealth field generator that you can use by equipping it in your belt slot and using the G key to toggle it on and off (provided your Stealth skill isn't zero). This is kind of neat, but you probably won't want to sneak past any droid combats since you get XP every time you "kill" one.
