The 7th Guest Hints

Microscope Game (Laboratory)

  • 1 of 8: This is a game in the truest sense.  You're competing against a computer with artificial intelligence, and not just your own wits.
  • 2 of 8: The best way to learn this game (both rules and strategy) is to watch what the computer does.
  • 3 of 8: The goal is to have more cells (in blue) than the computer does (in green) when all of the squares have been filled.
  • 4 of 8: There are only two types of moves, and they share the same rules.
  • 5 of 8: You first have to select one of your pieces.  Then you move it to another square.  If any of the computer's cells are on any square adjacent to the one where you landed, all of his pieces will change to your color.
  • 6 of 8: In other words, the game is similar to Othello/Reversi.
  • 7 of 8: If you move your piece just one square (diagonals included), it will duplicate.  You keep control of the starting square and the destination.
  • 8 of 8: Or you can move two squares at a time (again, diagonals are included).  But you don't get to keep control of the starting square and your cell vacates it to move to the new square.
